Why Parley
Privacy as the default, not a setting
Every mainstream AI chat sends your words to someone else’s server. Parley’s local mode does not. The model downloads once and runs inside your browser on your own GPU, so what you type stays on your device. It is genuinely private, it is free, and there is nothing to install.
The same workspace carries frontier cloud models for the moments that need serious reasoning, current knowledge or long documents. One chat, your choice of brain. History syncs across devices only when you sign in, and Parley never trains on your conversations.

Is Parley AI chat really free?
Yes. The private local model chat is free and you can try it on the homepage without signing up. Frontier cloud models use pay-as-you-go credits, and there is no subscription.
How is it private?
In local mode the model runs on your own device through WebGPU, so your words never reach any server. Cloud model chats go to the model provider to be answered, but Parley never trains on your conversations, and history syncs only when you sign in.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Parley runs entirely in the browser on desktop and mobile. You can install it as an app from the browser menu if you like, but it is never required.
Which AI models can I chat with?
A free private local model that runs on your device, plus frontier cloud models including Claude, Gemini and GLM. You can switch models in the middle of a conversation.
