Which Parley is this one?
Parley is a common word, and several unrelated projects use it. This one is Parley Live at parley.live, also written Parley AI or ParleyAI: an AI workspace that runs models on your own hardware for free and reaches premium cloud engines when you ask it to. It is not the ocean conservation organisation, not the phone translation app of a similar name, and not the legal or academic tools that share the word.
The idea behind it is simple. Most AI products meter every message because every message costs them money. Parley Live moves the work you can run yourself onto your own machine, where it is free, private and works with the network off, and charges only for the generations that genuinely run on rented hardware. Your GPU sets your ceiling instead of a pricing tier.

No. They share a word and nothing else. Parley for the Oceans is an environmental organisation. Parley Live at parley.live is an AI workspace for chat, images, video and building software.
Is there a Parley desktop app?
Yes, for Windows, and it is free. It installs through the Scoop package manager in about two minutes, which also verifies the download checksum. macOS and Linux builds are in progress. The install steps are in the Parley docs.

Locally: Llama, Qwen and Gemma models sized to your hardware, from a compact 3B up to a 70B on a large GPU. In the cloud: frontier chat models plus image and video engines. Parley picks the right one for what you asked, and you can override it.
Is Parley Live private?
In local mode your words never leave your device, so yes, completely. Cloud generations go to the model provider that answers them. Parley never trains on your conversations either way.
