Install Kirari

Kirari is Parley's companion at the top of your screen. Install it on Windows or Linux, sign in with your Parley account, and switch on only what you want.

Kirari is a small companion that sits at the top of your screen. Press Ctrl Alt K from anywhere and type a question: Kirari answers through Parley, with your Parley account. It can look things up, remind you, keep an eye on your coding agent, and do things on your computer when you say yes. It is its own app, separate from the Parley desktop app, and free to install.

Windows

Kirari runs on Windows 10 and 11 and installs for you only, without administrator rights. There are two ways to install it.

With the installer

  1. Open kirari.parley.live and choose Download for Windows.
  2. Open the file you downloaded.
  3. Windows may show a blue box that says "Windows protected your PC". Choose More info, then Run anyway.

With Scoop, no warning box

If you have Scoop (step 1 of Install the desktop app installs it), one line in PowerShell installs Kirari, with no installer to click through:

Windows - run in PowerShell
scoop install https://kirari.parley.live/scoop/kirari.json

To get new versions with scoop update as well, add Kirari's package list once instead. Like Parley's, it needs Git:

Windows - with the package list
scoop bucket add kirari https://kirari.parley.live/scoop/kirari-bucket.git
scoop install kirari

Linux

One line in a terminal downloads Kirari, checks its fingerprint and unpacks it into your home folder. Then type kirari to open it.

Linux - run in a terminal
curl -fsSL https://kirari.parley.live/install.sh | sh

Prefer a file? kirari.parley.live also has an AppImage, which runs on most desktops, and a .deb for Debian and Ubuntu.

First run

  1. Kirari appears at the top of your screen. Press Ctrl Alt K from anywhere to ask it something.
  2. Sign in with your Parley account. Kirari opens a Parley page in your browser and you confirm there; you never type your password into Kirari.
  3. Open Kirari's settings (right-click its icon, then Settings and permissions) and switch on what you want it to do: look things up on the web, remember what you ask it to, set reminders, look at your screen when you ask, or watch your coding agent.

A question on the free model costs nothing; on Auto it uses credits, like a chat in Parley. Before Kirari makes a picture or a video through Parley, a card shows the price and waits for your click. For a website, an app or a game, Kirari opens Parley with your request ready in the box.

Updating and removing

Kirari tells you when a new version is out, and nothing updates without your click.

  • Installed with Scoop: press Update now. Kirari fetches the new version, checks it, closes and opens again by itself.
  • Installed with the installer: download the new installer from kirari.parley.live and open it. It closes the Kirari that is running and puts the new one in its place.
  • Linux, installed with the one line: run the same line again, then close Kirari and open it again.
  • AppImage or .deb: download the new file and use it in place of the old one, or install the new .deb over the old one.

To remove Kirari, close it first (its icon near the clock, then Quit Kirari). Installed with the installer, remove it in Windows Settings under Apps, Installed apps. Otherwise:

Remove Kirari - Windows, installed with Scoop
scoop uninstall kirari
Remove Kirari - Linux, installed with the one line
curl -fsSL https://kirari.parley.live/install.sh | sh -s -- --remove
